  1. Wonderful blog Mrs. D. - Found your pages during a Google search whilst continuing my family history. Only in the last week or so I have found a branch of the Slade family who sailed to America in 1843 [from Somerset to NY then on to Knox, Illinois where they settled] so imagine how reading an entry in Edna's diary suddenly made those ancestors very very real. Monday January 13, 1902 – .... Mrs. Slade died this forenoon. & Thursday January 16, 1902 – .... Mrs. Slade was buried in the afternoon, funeral at half past 10 o’clock. My 1st cousin 4 x removed, Charles Slade, died on Jan 13 1902 - It has to be him, do you have Edna's original diaries? If so can you check the above entires to see if 'Mrs' [as you transcribed] is actually 'Mr'? Maybe with a swirl tailing off on the 'r'? Thanks :o)

  2. Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I looked at the original diary and found it is Mr. Slade, just as you thought. I made the correction.

I sent you an email of that page in Edna's Jan 1902 diary.

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. D
