1897 Snow Homestead, 1/4 mi west of Rio, IL

Edna sits atop her white horse, her father Gilbert Spencer Snow holding the reins, and her mother Martha Melinda (Sperry) Snow stands a little to the left. I would venture a guess the woman in the carriage is Edna's sister Celia Lurena (Snow) Mead with her baby Howard LeRoy Mead. Sister Celia born in 1863 was 15 years older than her sister Edna

Threshing Time

This photo is marked Rio, Illinois 1893.

Photo Details--Left: Woman holding the baby appears to be Edna's Mother Martha Melinda (Sperry) Snow. I would imagine the baby could be Edna's sister's baby--Howard LeRoy Mead born Dec 1892. Edna's sister was Celia Lurena (Snow) Mead, wife of Franklin Mead. I believe the first gentlemen (left) sitting in the wagon is Franklin Mead. The thinner gentlemen to the right appears to be Edna's father--Gilbert Spencer Snow.

Above is Edna's brother in law--John William Harriman with the jerk line on the binder, Lebanon Missouri

1903 - Edna's Diaries

Introduction by Linda Durrant:
Most of Edna's diaries are small neatly bound leather covered books. However, her first diaries 1902, 1903, 1910, are incomplete as they are written in one large school-type notebook (tablet paper). Missing are the years 1904 through 1909. Her 1902 diary ends March 31, but picks up again in February 1903. The tablet ends with the year 1910--the year they built their new house.

It is important to note that sometime around 1902 Edna, her husband James "Howard" and their little four year old boy Bertie (Gilbert Samuel Harriman) traveled to Lebanon, Missouri for a family reunion. There, this wonderful photograph was taken with his brothers, sisters, and mother Mary Elizabeth (Stevens)Harriman (center)
